No one is surprised: judges are not above the law

views

Today, the call for responsibility is stronger than ever all over the United States. People are waking up to a harsh truth that many powerful politicians, judges, and bureaucrats thought they would never understand: being in power does not protect you from the consequences of your actions. We need to look at the recent arrests of two judges who tried to weaken American immigration law in this new, long-overdue age of accountability. These aren’t just one-time events. They are a huge change in culture and a clear message from a government that they want to restore respect for the law.

William Kirk of Washington Gun Law says it so well: judges are people just like everyone else. Even though they have a lot of power, they are still subject to the law. Our courts have had an air of arrogance for too long, especially in liberal areas where progressive ideas are more important than constitutional duty. The latest arrests are a stark reminder that the people of the United States will no longer put up with judicial activism that looks like justice.

Milwaukee’s Dirty Secret: Hannah Dugan Breached Her Promise

There was something so shady that Judge Hannah Dugan did in Milwaukee County that it would shock any sane person. Reports say that Dugan purposely got involved in an immigration enforcement case, making it easier for an undocumented person to get away from federal officials without permission. Not following the law as she was supposed to, she chose to side with anarchy by telling ICE agents to talk to another judge while she let the suspect escape through a private exit.

This betrayal makes me think deeply about what it means to be a judge. Judges take an oath to follow the US Constitution and the rules of the US. That oath doesn’t cover personal views on immigration policy, and it also doesn’t cover helping illegal behavior happen while using judicial power to hide it. The things Judge Dugan did were not out of sympathy; they were out of defiance. These actions were a clear violation of federal law, one so serious that she had to be arrested to protect public trust in the system.

The Cano family’s criminal hospitality is a shame for New Mexico

At the same time, Judge Joel Cano and his wife Nancy Cano in New Mexico chose to break federal immigration law without thinking things through. By taking in an illegal immigrant connected to the infamous Trende Aragua gang, they went beyond just not following the law and committed a crime.

The person the Canos hired and then took in as a guest, Christian Ortega Lopez, was not just an economic traveler. He was part of a violent crime group that was known for trafficking people, smuggling drugs, and intimidating people. Judge Cano, who was sworn to understand and enforce the law, put his community at risk by giving safe haven to a member of a violent drug cartel.

This is not kindness. This helps and encourages organized crime. These acts directly break 8 U.S.C. § 1324, which makes it illegal to harbor, conceal, or shield illegal aliens. It is against the law to make exceptions for judges, teachers, activists, or famous people. It works for everyone, as it should.

Liberal media’s fake outrage: the propaganda machine in full swing

As expected, the major media jumped right on the defense of the judges who were arrested. CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, and other news outlets quickly spread the idea that these charges were an attack on democracy. They made the judges look like they were victims and heroes of an alleged authoritarian crackdown. They said bad things were going to happen and made it sound like holding government leaders accountable was not very American.

This is the worst kind of gaslighting. Not putting the law on criminal judges is not the real threat to democracy. The real danger is letting powerful people break the law without getting in trouble, while regular people suffer in a two-tiered justice system.

The left-wing media’s real goal is to protect the rights of their ideological friends, even if it means sacrificing law and order and public trust. This is shown by how they frame the arrests as political persecution. They don’t care as much about facts as they do about stirring up anger and conflict to keep their story going.

8 U.S.C. § 1324: A Law Every American Must Follow

The main law in question, 8 U.S.C. § 1324, is very clear. It makes illegal things like harboring, hiding, or protecting illegal immigrants so that they don’t get caught. Every American has to follow the law, from the construction worker to the college tutor to the judge in office.

It’s important to note that federal law doesn’t require judges or local officials to police immigration laws. However, it makes it clear that they can’t directly stop federal law enforcement from doing their job. It was against the law for Judge Dugan to help an illegal alien get away and for Judge Cano and his wife to give shelter to an illegal gang member.

These were not decisions made by the judge. There were crimes going on. Exactly the kinds of things that, if not stopped, weaken the foundations of a society based on law and order.

The Bad Judges of the Past Can Teach Us Something

William Kirk makes a very important historical connection when he talks about the case of Pennsylvania Judge Michael Monahan, who is famous for the “Cash for Kids” affair. Monahan abused his power by sending kids to youth detention centers where he got paid extra money. He did this by giving up the futures of children for his own benefit.

Even though he was given a 17-year prison term, President Joe Biden later commuted it. This shocking action showed how political favoritism can protect even the worst criminals. The Monahan case is a somber warning that corrupt judges are real, they are dangerous, and we need to take strong action against them.

As part of this strong reaction, Judges Dugan and Cano were arrested. These things show that a judge’s robe, gavel, or political ties can’t protect them from the effects of breaking the public’s trust.

Why it’s more important than ever to uphold the rule of law

When people on the left want to use the courts for political purposes, fairness in how the law is applied is very important. Without the rule of law, America falls into chaos, where powerful people can do whatever they want and regular people are just pawns in ideological fights.

Putting Dugan and Cano in jail is not a sign of tyranny. They show that the justice system is finally starting to fix itself, even if it’s not completely right yet. They show that America can still follow the principles it was founded on if it has the guts to follow the rules that are already in place.

Respecting the freedom of the courts does not mean putting up with lawlessness in the courts. In fact, making judges answerable is necessary to keep the trustworthiness of our courts. People shouldn’t trust the courts at all if they can’t trust that judges will follow the law.

Media Lies and the Love of Being a Victim

One of the worst things about how the left is reacting to these arrests is how they are making the judges look like victims. This story fits right in with the larger leftist plan of making everyone a victim all the time, where every criminal caught is seen as the real victim and police are seen as the bad guys.

The same flawed reasoning that wants to get rid of police forces, open prison doors, and erase the US’s borders. This way of thinking doesn’t lead to freedom; it leads to chaos.

No one is hurt by Judges Dugan and Cano. They are the ones who did it. The arrests of these people were not political theater; they were important for the sake of justice. The media’s desperate attempts to change the truth only show how much they want to protect things that can’t be defended.

The Battle for Rights in General and the Second Amendment

Kirk’s reminder that part of being a good citizen is knowing the law comes at a good time, since constitutional rights are being attacked in a wider sense. The left’s attack on the Second Amendment is similar to their opposition to immigration enforcement: both are areas where the progressive plan tries to overturn the Constitution.

The same ideological forces that defend criminal judges also want to take away the guns of law-abiding Americans. These are the same groups that shout “democracy” while trying to weaken the basic ideas that protect people’s freedom.

Realizing that no one is above the law is important for all parts of civil government, not just immigration policy. As soon as the Second Amendment is taken away or immigration rules are broken, all rights will be taken away too.

A New Dawn of Accountability in the United States

Getting Judges Hannah Dugan and Joel Cano arrested was a big step in the fight to get back America’s moral and legal direction. In a clear message, they tell all public officials not to think that their job protects them from the law.

America is not a place where strong people can rule without being held responsible. It was founded on the new idea that everyone should be treated the same by the law. By the law, everyone is equal: the rich, the poor, the strong, and most people.

We have put up with a legal class that thinks it can’t be harmed for too long. For too long, we’ve seen leaders on the left and the media that support them justify and even praise breaking the law in the name of their beliefs.

Not anymore.

People in the United States are waking up. They can see through the lies in the news. They know that following the law is not oppression but fairness. They know that judges who break the law are not heroes, but crooks.

The rule of law can’t be restored with big speeches. It has to start with deeds, like arresting Dugan and Cano. Things that make it very clear: in America, everyone is subject to the law.

Not any longer.
